Aggressively Pursuing a Dream, the Roundup #13

02-22-14 Roundup - Snow Melting

Getting pretty excited this week. A taste of warmer weather has me fired up and ready to get outside and play some softball and run around like a kid. For me, the winter equals the Bermuda Triangle. My soul disappears for a few months, potentially to never be seen again. Fortunately, the warmer weather comes around and getting out in the daylight and warmth revitalizes me to my core! But enough about me! Every few weeks or so I plan on putting together a roundup to highlight some of the fantastic content my fellow bloggers are generating. Even though I’ve been blogging for over a year now, I am still amazed how wonderfully some of these folks write.

Some awesome articles I read recently:

Dividend Mantra: You Can’t Change People, So Be The Change You Wish To See – In probably one of the most moving and inspirational posts I’ve read in a long-time, Jason lays out some of the hurdles and challenges he’s faced in his life, with an emphasis on overcoming his mother’s drug addiction and eventual passing as a result. Ultimately, Jason is right, you can’t change people, they have to want to be changed, so focus on leading by example instead and become an inspiration to those around you.

Budgets Are Sexy/FI Fighter: How I Plan to Retire at 30 – A guest post by our friend FI Fighter on Budgets are Sexy, FI lays out his exact plan to obtain early financial independence through his acquisition of rental properties. Currently, he is about halfway there with some significant plans to capture some equity and cross the finish line. Best of luck to him!

Retire Before Dad: Strive to Wake Up and Do Nothing (with Your Finances) – RBD jumps into a discussion about one of the benefits of being good leader, which is the ability to complete delegate and automate activity around you. In the world of finances, RBD has several great suggestions on how this is possible for folks looking to retire early while developing streams of passive income.

Lend Academy: How I am Investing in Lending Club and Prosper in 2014 – As he has done for a few years now, Peter has updated his investment criteria and shared them with the rest of us. A pioneer and leader in the peer to peer lending community, his criteria have been used by many as the foundation and basis for their own investments.

Shameless self-promotion!

In the land of Write Your Own Reality (WYOR), I may or may not have written anything of quality; however, here are a few of my favorite posts from the past few weeks:

Passive Income – December and 2013 Goals Update – After a successful year tracking my passive income publicly, check out how I did against my goals!

It Ain’t Just Money – Goals for 2014 – Now that I finished 2013, it was time to put together my goals for 2014! The added bonus? Besides some increased passive income goals, I threw a blogging goal in there to spice things up a bit!

How to Invest in Lending Club and Prosper – My 2014 Investment Criteria – As I did for the first time last year, I published my investment criteria and strategy for all of my peer to peer lending accounts. In the next week or two I will be publishing some simplified criteria for those who are having trouble finding notes that meet their current criteria.

Building a No-Cost Dividend Growth Portfolio with Loyal3 – Starting in January, I began investing with Loyal3 to show that a solid dividend growth portfolio can be acquired through their offerings, all while leveraging some credit card rewards arbitrage. With no-fees, Loyal3 is a great opportunity for those with small amounts of investable capital to get started.

Link love! Thanks so much for the links!

And congrats on the passive income generation. You’re little passive income machine is humming along nicely now!

  3. Spring is a coming buddy. I really enjoyed the first three posts you mentioned. They have been on my recent weekly recaps as well. So is the snow melting? or still miserable up there?

  5. Yeah the cold is starting to get to me aswell, given all this wacky weather, we’ll probably head to the other extreme in the summer ;) but a change is more than welcome. Keep up the good work on the blog!
